After being leaked on the internet and numerous release date changes, Lil Waynes’s new album “Tha Carter III” started with a bang! “Tha Carter III” sold over 422,000 copies in its first day “Tuesday June 10th, 2008″ and is expected to be this years top seller in first week sells.

This release makes for the third album release in “Tha Carter” series and Lil Wayne’s sixth over all studio release. “Tha Carter” released in the summer of 2004, sold 1.1 million and “Tha Carter II,” released December, 2005 sold 1.4 million copies.

“Tha Carter III” features the hit single “Lollipop” The single has quickly became the rapper’s most commercially successful song of his career thus far, topping the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first Top 10 single for Wayne as a solo artist, as well as his first #1 on the chart. It also gave him his first #1 on the Hot Rap Tracks. Lollipop is in its 12 week on the chart!
